Goodbye stupid face, Hello public face

Last year I posted a video of a tribute song I wrote for Dragon Age's Leliana. It wasn't great, but that wasn't the point. I was more interested in how quickly the idea went from concept to publishing, taking only 36 hours to go from random lyric writing on a working lunch to the glorious and terrifying publicity of youtube.

I also got a kick out of the great leap of confidence it took to post my own face online again, and not just my face but my vocals, lyrics and hit-and-miss vocals. To say I had fun recording it isn't quite right, it was more that I got a kick out of the necessary dedication.  As such there was a ton of outtakes in the rushes, some angry, some stupid, some quite sad and melancholy.

Earlier today I cut them together and posted that video to youtube, and have to admit it's more entertaining and honest than the finished song ever was. If putting my singing face into the public eye helped give me strength, then publicising my mistakes and failings helps me accept and overcome my weaknesses, and see my frustrations as nonsense rather than personal faults.

That and it's a funny video. Judge for yourselves. Enjoy.
